Local Lawyer

For North Vancouver–Capilano

Member of Parliament

Meet Stephen Curran

Stephen Curran is a long-time North Shore resident, business lawyer, and father of two who is running to become the next Member of Parliament for North Vancouver–Capilano. Stephen lives with his wife, Shubha, and their two children in Central Lonsdale, in the heart of the riding he seeks to represent. By raising his family and running his law practice on the North Shore, he has a firsthand understanding of the challenges local families face: the rising cost of living, housing that is increasingly out of reach for the next generation, worries about property rights, concerns about crime and public safety, and frustration with infrastructure that has not kept pace with growth.

Stephen’s Priorities

As a father and local business owner, Stephen is acutely aware of the fears, anxieties, and challenges that residents of North Vancouver–Capilano residents face every day. As Member of Parliament, Stephen wants to use his voice to take our local concerns to Ottawa and deliver results for his neighbours across the North Shore on the critical issues that we face as a community.

Affordability

The North Shore used to be a place where teachers, tradespeople, and young families could put down routes. That past is further and further from today’s reality. A decade of overspending drove up inflation, while red tape and federal roadblocks strangled the housing supply. Now, the Liberal government is bailing out developers to keep housing prices artificially high. Stephen will push to restore the fiscal discipline that keeps costs manageable for every family on the North Shore.

Property Rights

Stephen spent twenty years as a commercial lawyer working on cases involving land, ownership, and government agreements. He knows what happens when contracts are left vague and terms hidden from key partners. The Liberal government has made several decisions that put our homes at risk without any consultant. The North Shore needs an MP who demand explicit and written protection of our private property.

Infrastructure

The North Shore Wastewater Treatment Plant was approved with a budget of roughly $700 million. It is now projected to cost $3.86 billion and cost taxpayer and additional $800 (average) every year for the next 30 years. Stephen's piece of legislation will be the Federal Infrastructure Accountability Act. It will mandate public reporting, automatic disclosure of cost overruns, and independent forensic audits for federally funded projects — starting with a full forensic audit of the North Shore Wastewater Treatment Plant.

Iran

For six years, following the murder of seven North Shore residents on PS752, the Persian community demanded the IRGC be listed as a terrorist organization. For six years, the Liberal government waited and continues to let IRGC operatives harass our Persian neighbours today. Stephen believes that an attack on the North Shore’s Persian community is an attack on himself and his family. As MP, Stephen will call for the deportation of IRGC operatives and the protection Persian-Canadians across the country.
